Apple users eagerly awaiting a smarter, AI-enhanced Siri will have to wait longer than expected. The Cupertino-based tech giant has officially confirmed a delay in rolling out its upgraded virtual assistant, which was initially showcased as part of Apple’s AI advancements in June 2024.

Why the Smarter Siri Is Delayed

Apple had promised a more intelligent and personalized Siri, capable of understanding user context better and performing actions across multiple apps. However, the company has now stated that delivering these features is taking longer than anticipated.

“We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features, and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year,” Apple said in an official statement.

While Apple has made notable improvements to Siri in the past six months—including better conversational abilities, “Type to Siri,” product knowledge enhancements, and integration with ChatGPT—the major AI-powered upgrade is still in development.

Apple Intelligence Features Still on Track

Despite the delay in Siri’s next-gen update, most of the Apple Intelligence features announced in 2024 are on schedule. Many have already launched, and others are expected to roll out by April 2025.

Apple’s AI strategy is focused on enhancing user experience, and while the wait for a more powerful Siri continues, Apple users can still benefit from recent improvements in AI-driven functionalities.
