Google is testing a new AI-powered Gemini side panel in Google Calendar to make scheduling easier. This feature, available through Google Workspace Labs, allows users to quickly check their schedules, create events, and find event details using natural language prompts.
How to Use Gemini in Google Calendar
You can access Gemini by clicking the “Ask Gemini” icon at the top right of your Google Calendar. From there, you can either choose from suggested prompts or type your own requests.
For example, Gemini might suggest:
- “Add a lunch event”
- “Find the next meeting” with a specific person
If you need more options, simply click “More suggestions.”
You can also type custom prompts like:
- “When is my next meeting with Emily?”
- “How many meetings do I have on Monday?”
- “Add a weekly workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 AM.”
Why This Feature Matters
Gemini helps reduce the hassle of manually searching for meetings or adding events. Instead of clicking through menus, you can just ask Gemini to handle it for you.
Expanding Gemini Across Google Workspace
Google Calendar is the latest app to get a Gemini side panel, joining Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat. However, it’s unclear when this feature will roll out to all users.
By integrating AI into Google Calendar, Google is making it easier to manage your schedule efficiently with just a few words.
